Collect blood in single tube
Label tube with Patient Name and Date of Birth
Register time and date of blood collection on request form
Tubes should be at room temperature (62.6-77 Fahrenheit) at time of blood collection
Fill tube and gently mix by inverting tube several times to dissolve the heparin
Over vigorous shaking may cause aberrant results
Maintain tube at room temperature (71.6 +/- 9 Fahrenheit) until we pick up the specimen.
